How To Create A Facebook Likes Ad

How To Create A Facebook Likes Ad

Have you wondered the fastest way to grow your Facebook Fan Page?  The answer is by creating an ad and today I’m going to give you some tips and walk you through how to create a Facebook Likes Ad.  Now, I’m sure many of you are asking why you need to spend money to grow your fan base.  Honestly, when it comes to Facebook marketing, you don’t have to and you can spend your time building your fan page up organically.  However, just keep in mind that it will take you much longer to do it this way as the vast majority of your posts will not be seen organically.  The fact is, it’s now become a ‘Pay to Play’ world because there is so much competition to get in the newsfeed of your target audience.  If you want to grow your page quickly and you want your posts to be seen, you need to build your fan base and the best way to do so is by creating an ad to drive traffic and get likes.  Make sense?

Facebook Ad Tips:

Now that you have a Facebook Fan Page, you need to start building your audience.  Facebook has several different ad options available and they all do different things so be sure to grab the above Facebook Cheat Sheet to learn what each means with examples.

In today’s episode, I’ll just be going over the Likes Ad.  Here are some other things to consider.

  • Be sure that whatever image you choose, you do not have more than 20% text on it.  If you have more than 20% of the image covered in words, Facebook will not approve your ad!
  • When choosing an interest, remember that this is the most critical section and you will likely have to do some testing to figure out which interests selection is going to perform the best depending on your target audience.
  • Only target ONE country in each ad.
  • You will know if your ad is performing well by how much you are paying per like.  You’ll want to be paying $1 or less per like.
  • Make sure you are targeting people NOT connected to your fan page.  There is no point in putting your ad in front of current fans.
  • A good daily budget is $10 but obviously go with what is affordable for you at this point.
  • Make sure you’re optimizing for likes.  What this means is that Facebook will show your ad to people who are most likely to click “like” on your page.

Now I’ll walk you through how to create a like ad in the below video.

    1. Thank you Ron! I chuckled about the accent comment. When I was little, the crew my dad worked with used to pay me .25 cents for each time I would say “lightning bug” hehe.

  1. Love it! truly valuable! I believe my first fan page campaign Cost me over $3 per like. And I never knew what I missed. thanks for doing this video Sherri! Going to try again soon (feeling motivated haha)

  2. Timely video! I’m just looking into creating a likes ad, loved the video it’ll be very helpful while I’m going through it. Thanks for the in depth walkthrough. I didn’t know how much I should expect the cost per like to be, now I know.

  3. Yep great tips for all, so many waste their money on ads because they don’t do them correctly. You gave great tips that anyone can use and print off.

    1. Thank you Mike! I used to be one of those people myself but it’s all about learning a better way. Appreciate your feedback.

  4. Thanks Sherri for this posting. Question is if you choose “Desktop News Feed” AND ‘Mobile News Feed” AND “Right Column” do you get charged 3x – i.e. once for each feed? I so and I only want to pay for one – which is the best one to choose?
