Top 5 Don’ts On Social Media

When it comes to building your business on social media, knowing what not to do can be just as important as knowing what to do.

The truth is, most entrepreneurs come into the home based industry and they immediately begin doing things the wrong way, which more times than not leads to frustration.

That’s why today you’ll learn 5 things you should not be doing if you want to build a successful, long term business.

What You Should Not Be Doing On Social Media

1. Don’t have your company name listed on your social media profile.  I’ve talked about this before so for those who are new to the show, I will tell you why.

When someone comes to your profile and they see what company you’re with, instead of reaching out to you, chances are they are going to reach out to good ole google.  Then, because our mind automatically looks for the negative stuff, they might find something negative about your company and you’ll never know. So by not having your company name or link, it creates curiosity which is definitely what you want, and it forces those who are interested to reach out to you instead.

2.  When you’re posting on your newsfeed, don’t post your company replicated website link.  The same reason I just stated why you shouldn’t post your company name, applies here as well.

If they see your company link, someone will click on it, they’re not going to understand anything about how long your products last.  They might see the prices are a little high and not realize they could be getting a discount.  Again, it also forces those who are interested to reach out to you instead.

3.  Don’t spam!  If you are being really pitchy, salesy, and spammy, it’s like you’re running an infomercial and it turns people off.  It actually raises more resistance than anything else.

The best thing you can do, instead of spamming, is lead with value.  Start talking about the benefits of your products and how it’s going to help those in your target market.  I see way too many people who are posting products and talking about how awesome it is, but there is no meat or value to it and it’s not going to be enough to make your prospect stop and read it.

  1. Great post, when speaking to many people, they really have no idea on why they are not to have the company stuff all over. “I am proud of who I am with.” That’s great but you have to build curiosity and have people come to you.

You explained everyone of the donts very well.

  2. I find it fascinating that many network marketing companies don’t teach distributors how to leverage the number one asset in their business – themselves. It’s great to see leaders like you showing how distributors can now have a taste of success applying these awesome tips you outlined about.

    Great work Sherri!

    1. You’re right about how shocking it is that they don’t teach people how to brand and build themselves. Thanks Dr. Lisa!
