Should You Brand Yourself Or Your Company?

Not long ago someone asked me if it looked flighty or unfocused to switch from branding your network marketing company to in turn brand yourself.

Today, I’ll share the answer and also give you some tips on why branding is so important.

In the video below, I answer the question from above on whether you look unfocused if you begin branding yourself after you’ve already been branding your company.

How To Brand Yourself In Network Marketing

Like I shared in the video, most people who join the industry, automatically begin branding their company, not realizing that it can hurt them in the long run.  By focusing on branding yourself, you are now able to stand out among the millions doing it the wrong way (yes, throwing out your company name is doing it the wrong way and I did it myself for a long time so trust me on this).  So how do you begin branding yourself?

The first step to creating a personal brand is to lead with value and education.  You need to narrow down who are you wanting to attract and then begin feeding them value on a daily basis.  Although I’m with a network marketing company, I choose to lead with education around those coming into the industry and the pains and problems they have instead of talking about my product.  You, on the other hand, don’t have to do the same.  Instead, you could talk about skincare, makeup, travel, weight loss, wellness, or whatever it is you’re promoting.

When you focus on leading with value instead of straight pitching your sales page and slamming products down people’s throats on social media, you will begin attracting people interested in what you have to offer.  If you’re selling a weight loss product and you begin giving people tips on how to lose weight, foods to avoid, quick and healthy meals, easy exercises, then people who are interested in losing weight will begin looking at you as the expert.

An easy way to do this is by using Ray Higdon’s, ILT method.  Invest, Learn, Teach.  You invest your time (and possibly money) to learn something, and then you teach it.  When you begin doing this consistently, you will notice a difference in how many people start engaging on your posts, instead of just rolling their eyes and scrolling on.

  1. Great post Sherri, as soon as we stop selling and start “helping” people, this I believe is the minute many people will see a breakthrough in their business. People are sick and tired of being pitched, they would much rather buy from a person of value. YOU. You are the company, it’s you they buy from.. thanks for sharing..

  2. Excellent post Sherri!! Too many (myself included) started out only branding a company and not focusing on my business! Thanks for sharing these nuggets!!

  3. What a great post today Sherri… you sure hit a home run with this one…. branding yourself is so very important…. your webinar was great… thanks for sharing this

  4. Great post. this is a point that many people don’t realize. its about you and what you bring to the table. the company isn’t the star. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Yes we’ve all been there promoting the product & the company while the top earners are promoting themselves. It takes time to build your brand but it’s worth it. Awesome post Sherri.

    1. Thanks Theresa and I think many people just aren’t aware of branding themselves because it’s not something that I’ve ever heard any company train on but you’re right!
