I totally get it, you join a home business and if you’re anything like me (stay at home mom, no baby sitter, can’t really get out and build solely belly to belly) then it totally makes sense (and creates leverage) to want to build your business online.
Now, I don’t know about you but when I came into this industry several years ago, I did was I was taught by my upline and simply followed suit. Boy was that a mistake! ย See, network marketing companies don’t teach effective marketing strategies and definitely not on social media. ย Well, that is unless they’ve dedicated some time (and possibly money) on personal development that’s taught them better ways.
When it comes to building your business on social media, you need to realize a couple of things
#1 People don’t come to social media to buy, they come to get entertained, informed, and socialize.
I mean think about yourself, do you like to see your newsfeed filled up with pitch after pitch after “join my team” after “buy my product”? ย Heck no and the only reason you think it’s ok yourself is because it’s YOUR PITCH, right? ย I mean, do you like sitting through and watching commercials on tv or do you use that time to go to the bathroom, grab a snack, or check your newsfeed?? ย Ahhh, are you starting to get it?
#2 People don’t like to be sold but they love to buy!
What do people generally do (what do you do) before you consider buying something? ย My guess, you’ll probably do some research. ย So consider that when it comes to building a successful business yourself. ย Don’t be a pitch person and instead beat them to the research by offering your prospects valuable information!!
That way, when they have a problem then they’ll think of YOU as the go-to expert and person who can help them.ย

Now, I will say that this is from a Facebook Live I did and it was not only meant to entertain, but it was meant to educate you on what’s costing people TONS of business!! ย I may have gone a little overboard and yes, I may even have purchased a costume (simply for visual purposes) but my hope is that it will stick out in your mind and make you think before just throwing up another post where you’re trying to make a sale.

Excellent post Sherri. When I stared in the industry 3 years ago, the company I was with did not teach online marketing techniques. My upline taught me to go the malls and drop off flyers on cars, etc… Those techniques were definitely costing me my biz.

Love It, LOVE IT, this was really good … I did the same and I felt really dirty. Yes, saying “Join my team” or “I will only mentor 5 people.” Really never felt right but I was doing that I was told to do. Well, I did that for a year and only my Dad signed up (out of pity). Since, learning a better way things feel better and I am now helping people with what they need.
