Have you been wondering how to make yourself stand out on social media? I wondered the same thing for a long time. However, after doing what I was told and posting pretty consistently for a year, I still wasn’t gaining much traction to be honest. I mean yes, my business grew through prospecting but I didn’t generate many leads at all through my marketing efforts. That’s when I decided to plug into a system to learn from those in the industry who were already crushing it.
Would you believe that what I learned inside this community was that I wasn’t marketing at all. I found that I was actually just another spammer. Ouch!
Now, if you haven’t had people reaching out to you, don’t worry! Today, I’m going to give you 3 ways to use social media to start branding you and in turn, (as long as you’re consistent) you should start generating some leads.

Tips On Social Media Marketing
Check out the latest statistics from Facebook alone:
- 1.01 billion daily active users on average for September 2015
- 894 million mobile daily active users on average for September 2015
- 1.55 billion monthly active users as of September 30, 2015
- 1.39 billion mobile monthly active users as of September 30, 2015
- Approximately 83.5% of our daily active users are outside the US and Canada
These were taken straight from Facebook’s newsroom. Now, given the massive amount of growth and users there are on this platform AND given the fact that more and more people are using social media to market their business, the competition is fierce!! In order for people to even see your posts, you need engagement (either people liking or commenting) and I’m going to give you some pointers on how to get it.
3 Ways to Use Social Media To Brand You
The first thing you need to do is start branding YOU and not your company! People do not come on Facebook or any other social media site to buy something. They come to socialize. Remember that people join people! Your company does not need branding but with the massive amount of competition going on, YOU DO. Therefore blasting your links everywhere saying “join my team, join my team, join my team” is not only raising resistance but it’s turning people off. So start posting pictures of you, inspirational quotes, funny pictures, pictures of you with your team, asking questions that peak curiosity, etc. Look at your profile and ask yourself, “Would you follow you?” Do you find what you’re posting interesting or a turn off? Notice in the picture below that on my profile, I do not list what company I am with, nor my company website. I do however point them to my blog where I also do not list what network marketing company I’m with. If someone is curious, they are forced to reach out to me for more information.
The second way to start branding you is to lead with value! If you really want to attract people and stand out, stop spamming and start giving them information that is beneficial and will solve their problems. So if you’re in skincare, instead of posting a picture of a product and saying “I need two more orders to meet my goal” try this instead…. “3 things you can do now to take years off of your appearance.” You see what I did there? Which of those two examples do you think people would actually be interested in?
Another example would be if you’re in the health & wellness industry to post something like “5 Ways to Burn Belly Fat in 10 minutes a Day” versus “You gotta buy this shake because it has all these awesome ingredients such as blah blah blah blah.” Most people aren’t going to give a rip about the ingredients, they just want to know how it benefits them! So stop making everything about you and start focusing on how you can solve the problems of your target market. The picture below is just a fun little post I put up to get engagement. As you can see, no where did I mention my company name or post a link to my company website.
Finally, disguise your product in such a way that it will create curiosity. What I mean by this is if you’re drinking a shake and you take a picture of yourself, don’t have a big cup with your company name on it for everyone to see. Instead, have it in a cup, talk about the benefits, but don’t tell them what it is. What happens when you do this is that it forces those who are interested to reach out to you and not google! Make sense?
Here is an example: I posted a picture of one of the tools I market and instead of posting my link just hoping someone bought, I educated my audience on why exfoliating is important.
The next morning, I woke up to a message in my inbox. Now, had I posted my link, they could have went onto my site, seen the price (without knowing a discount is available, without knowing how long the product lasts, etc.) and I would have never known!
I hope now you understand the difference and how you can start making a few changes that will have people wanting to follow you and reaching out to you. It’s all about making yourself stand out.
