5 Ways To Work Smarter Not Harder

1. Schedule Out Your Social Media Posts Ahead of Time

Lack of time is an issue for a lot of entrepreneurs so taking some time on a day where you’re not as busy and using tools to help you schedule your social media posts ahead of time will help you a lot.  Hootesuite is a popular app that allows you to do this as well as IFTTT (if this, then that).  What’s cool about IFTTT is you can create and automate tasks between apps by creating simple recipes.  With more than 65 supported apps, you can create connections between things like facebook, instagram, twitter, gmail, fitbit, evernote, etc.  An example would be that you can have it set to where all of your instagram posts go to twitter, or you can save your tweets to evernote, share facebook statuses to linkedin.  There is really an endless supply of recipes you can come up with.

I do want you to be aware that it’s not really a lack of time that’s the issue, but how you utilize that time!  People can stay really busy doing non-income producing activities such as training but unless you’re making connections with others and getting eyeballs on your presentation, your business won’t grow.

2. Utilize Your Time In The Car

Whether you spend time traveling to and from work or simply running errands, use that time for business activities versus listening to music or sitting in silence.  You can listen to podcasts, audio books, make prospecting or follow-up calls (safety first so use a headset), etc.  This allows you to find and use more pockets of time throughout your day, even if it’s only 15 minutes at a time.

3. Use Tools and Resources To Leverage Your Time

What I mean by this is to use vidoes, blog posts, power points, or whatever else to leverage your time.  If you’re speaking to a prospect about your opportunity, instead of explaining it over and over again, use a company video to explain it instead.  If you’re getting the same question by multiple people on your team, stop answering it by repeating yourself 15 times and instead, create a short video that you can send them to.  Taking the time to create resources like this will drastically reduce how much time you’re spending on certain tasks.

  1. I use tools all the time to automate my content and posts on Social media – it’s total leverage! I do it on Saturday or Sunday so I can focus my time interacting with others during the week.

I’m on the road 2-3 hours per day during the workweek so I use my car as my mobile university where I learn the skills then implement when it’s time to work on the business

  2. Awesome post, Sherri. You’re right, Hootsuite tool allows multiple post schedules. It’s easy to do. With a single sitting, your various posting dates are scheduled as desired. Your tips are very helpful, thanks!
