MLM Tips: Why Building Your Email List Is Important

Ever wonder why leaders focus so much on building their email list?  

If you’re new to email marketing, today I’ll share some mlm tips on not only why it’s important but how to get started as well.  

What Is List Building?

Building your email list is where you are getting people to give you their name and email in exchange for something of value.  This could be a pdf, a video, e-book, webinar training, podcast, etc. but it will need to be something that your target market will find valuable.  

For example, if you look on the right hand side of my blog post, you will see I have an offer for a Free Success Guide (5 keys you should know if you want to become a top earner).  When you enter your name and email, the guide is then emailed to you and you go on my email list.  Therefore, getting people to do that over and over is the when you begin building your list.  There are also several free resources I have available under my Free Training/Resources tab which are also ways to get people on my list.  Again, I am giving away helpful resources to get people to give me their information.  Make sense? 

Why Building Your Email List Is Important

It’s very important to realize that people do business with people and brands they know, like, and trust.  When you begin building your email list, you can begin building trust by keeping in contact with your list and providing them valuable information that will help them.  If you want people to like and trust you, it all starts with free content.  Every blog post and video I create is to help solve the problems of my target market.   

Typically, your prospect has to see your offer several times before they will buy, so your email list allows you to expose your offer consistently.  On average, each subscriber is worth about $1 per month.  This means that if you have 200 subscribers, you could earn about $200 per month.  If you have 1500 subscribers, you should earn about $1500 per month.  This is not exact but a general guideline.   

What Do You Need To Get Started?

The first thing you will need is an autoresponder.  Some of the more common ones are Aweber (this is the one I personally use), Get Response, Constant Contact, and Mail Chimp.  Pricing and plans will vary so I would suggest picking one that fits you and your budget.  I can personally only attest to Aweber but I’ve found it’s easy to use and customer service has been excellent.  An autoresponder is what collects your leads information (such as name and email).  

The next thing you’ll need is a lead capture page, which is where people can go to get your giveaway.  For example, you can go here to access my free success guide.  There are many ways to create these and some are a lot fancier than mine but you get an idea of what a lead capture page is.  

Finally, you must have an enticing offer (as mentioned above) that will make people want to give you their information.  Again, just be sure it’s an offer that will solve the problems of your target market!
