A Big Problem I See In The Industry
The great thing about starting a home based business is the fact that it’s so low risk and low cost. With that being said, you should still treat your business like a business if you are serious about creating any type of success.
All too often, people come into the industry but aren’t willing to invest any time or money into improving themselves. This is a big mistake and I think one of the main reasons network marketing has a bad rap.
I encourage you to stop looking at everything as a cost and instead look at it as an investment!
When Should You Hire Help?
If you feel that whatever you are trying to do is holding you back, that’s probably going to be a cue that it’s time to find some resources.
Take technology for example. There’s a lot of people who want to start blogging, but they’re just clueless when it comes to the first step of even how to create one. That was me for a long time. I kept putting it off just because of that fear of not really having any clue on how to blog. If you want to start a blog there are amazing places where you can actually go and hire out people who are very familiar with how to do that. Upwork.com, is just one resource. One of the big perks of the marketing system I use is that you can build a website, have it hosted on their servers, and they walk you through it via videos.
There are resources out there that can make it a lot easier for you. You can either hire it out and have somebody do it for you, or you can just tap into certain systems that make it easier and quicker.
Time may be an issue for you, especially if you work a full-time job. Therefore you might consider hiring a Virtual Assistant who can do some of your non-income producing activities for you.
There might be things you need to do but you don’t enjoy doing them or have a desire to learn them! Take video editing, in my case. I have been editing my own videos for months but it’s a little time consuming and something I just don’t enjoy doing. Therefore, I’m currently looking for someone who can do this for me. This will not only save me time but allow me to work and do other things that I like.
When Is a Good Time To Hire A Coach?
Now for me, this really depends. If you are just doing your business as a hobby, you may not want to spend a lot of money hiring a coach. However, if you are someone who is really serious about building a big business, then maybe you should look into coaching. Honestly, I don’t think there’s ever a bad time to hire a coach.
I spent a long time in this industry doing things the wrong way. I was frustrated, I was overwhelmed, and I was just spinning my wheels. I know that there are a lot of people out there who feel the same way now. It got to a point where I was like, “If I’m going to make this work, I need help,”and so I started looking at areas of my business where I was struggling.
If you know that there are certain weaknesses that you have, those are the areas that you might invest in first. If you are prospecting and you’re sitting here, and you’re talking to tons of people and you’re not getting anywhere, and people are ignoring you, it might be time to look into maybe a prospecting course or learn some attraction marketing skills.
I’m all about cutting my learning curve so that I can get results faster. If that’s you, it might just be time to hire help.

I like the distinction between hiring help and hiring a coach. One is for tasks, the other is for mindset and emotional and habit breakthroughs. Thanks for sharing this, Sherri.
You’re welcome Larry and thanks for commenting. 🙂
I guess for a new entrepreneur, hiring a professional coach is worth it. It speeds up the learning process and the getting of good results. Thanks for the tips.
You’re more than welcome Paul and yes, cutting your learning curve is always great.
I totally agree that since people don’t invest thousands upfront, they don’t take their business seriously. Getting a coach DOES make sense because success leaves clues and with a mentor, they can obviously lead you on the EXACT right path!
You’re exactly right Joseph!
I like the idea of outsourcing certain responsibilities to make you more effective & efficient. Excellent post! Thank you for sharing!
Glad you got some value Terrance and you’re so welcome!
Great Value Sherri Loved this will bookmark so i can go over this again !!~ Appreciate !~
Thank you Sandra! 🙂 Glad you got some value
Hiring a coach so he can help you improve in areas that you’re not really good at is super beneficial. I like how Ray Higdon put it in one of his videos about hiring a coach – “it’s never a bad time to make more money”. Thank you for this awesome post Sherri!
Absolutely Jelena and yes, that’s a great quote! Love Ray Higdon, he adds a lot of value!
Such a big help Sherri. This is something I struggled with for a long time, I always had the attitude of wanting to do it myself, but this held me back from being able to focus on other things and being able to better leverage my time.
Great to hear that Kay and yes, sometimes it’s hard to let go and let others help us out.
Totally agree with the hiring of a Virtual Assistant to do your non-income producing tasks. If you want to make it a family affair and have kids who are teenagers or college age, you can have them do some work for you as well.
I remember when I was in high school and college working for my parent’s business. It was great bonding time with my parents and I felt like I was contributing to the cause
Dr. Lisa
That’s an excellent idea Dr. Lisa! I will definitely have my daughter help when she gets a little older. 🙂
