Tips To Become A Better Leader
Training Video: 7 Tips To Become A Better MLM Leader
This video is from this past weekend where I went Live on my Facebook page. Â What sparked this is an incident with someone I am coaching. Â I have been working with them on their online marketing and branding when their upline got pretty nasty with them about it. Â Their upline has since blocked them and told them they will no longer build under them and they will tell others not to follow what my student is doing because she doesn’t agree with learning attraction marketing.
Now, before you go and say, “OMG, how in the world could an upline condone spamming and act like that?” Â You must realize that people don’t know what they don’t know. Â Fear can set in and so can scarcity thinking but regardless, the way my coaching client was treated by her upline was uncalled for but unfortunately not uncommon.
The first part of the video is what to do when you feel you have a crappy upline and then I go into 7 (actually 8 so you got a bonus right there) tips on how to become a better mlm leader. Â If you plan on building a team or maybe you already have one, these suggestions should help you.
#1 Be someone worthy of following. Â Be someone someone others wants to follow. Â Be someone of value.
#2 Meet people where they are, not where you want them to be.
If someone joins you and simply wants to be a customer. Â Let them be a customer and don’t try and force or hound them into building it as a business. Â All that does is turn them off and it may even cause them to quit all together. Â You must remember that not everyone will want the same thing you do and that’s ok!Â
#3 Be someone who Inspires and Empowers Others
#4 Do the things you wish your team would do. Â
If you want your team to prospect, then you need to go out there and prospect. Â If you want your team to be consistent, then you better be consistent yourself. Â Don’t expect them to do things that you aren’t willing to do. Â
#5Â Lead by Example
This goes along with the last tip but it’s so important to lead by example. Â Be the example for your team! Â Show them that when you go out there and work hard that success will follow and great things can happen. Â
#6 Surround yourself with those who will force you to do more and be more.
Surrounding yourself with the right kind of people can make or break you. Â If you’re constantly surrounding yourself with doubters, negative Nancy’s and energy suckers then chances are you’ll quit and become that same type of person. Â However, if you surround yourself with positive, like-minded people who are getting way more results than you, then you’ll become better yourself. Â
#7 Never stop improving yourself
Personal development is so important and the more that you learn, the more that you become, the more that you’re going to be able to help inspire others, and the more you’re going to be able to impact lives.
Bonus #8 Â Don’t criticize
Don’t try to force your views on someone else and don’t criticize those who choose to be different or build their business a different way. Â Ultimately it is their business! Â So don’t be the person with the hammer that tries to control people. Â All that’s going to do is push people away and lose people who could have been rockstars!Â

Be someone worthy … I always ask myself the question .. would I follow me… great post and video Sherri… thanks for sharing this
Thank you Ron and yes, that’s such a great question to ask ourself on a daily basis.
It’s sad to see so called “leaders” treat their team that way! No matter your position we all can always learn even from our newest members! No one should be above listening and seeing if what a person is saying will work or not. By just closing someone off, you could have just killed what may have been your biggest leg! You made some excellent points Sherri and as always great value!
You’re exactly right Zach!! Thank you! 🙂
See…these are great because they all require you to develop YOU. Great post, Sherri!
Thank you Larry and yes, it all starts with ourselves!
Thank you for your post, Sherri. Being a leader, we should not forget inspiring others and empowering them. It’s a different feeling when someone great, like a leader, notices other people and tries his best to lift them up.
You’re exactly right Paul! Thank you!
