Advantages & Disadvantages To Warm Market Prospecting

There are some advantages to warm market prospecting in that it’s the fastest, easiest, cheapest, and most proven way to grow your business.

On the flip side, a couple of disadvantages are that most people are either addicted to the outcome or too selfish to approach their friends and family.  See, often people will care more about what that person might think about them instead of focusing on how you can help solve their problems.

When To Approach Your Warm Market

Any network marketing company you join will probably tell you to make a list of all your friends and family and contact them first.  However, there are some important things to keep in mind.

The biggest indicator of when you should approach your warm market has everything to do with you.  See, if you are going to get upset if they tell you ‘no’ then do NOT prospect them!  You have to be ok with it not being a fit for them.  So start reaching out to them when you don’t care whether they join you or not.

5 Simple Tips When Reaching Out To Your Warm Market

  1. Don’t trick them into looking at a presentation.  No one likes anything to just be sprung on them so consider how you would want to be approached.
  2. Don’t beg them.  This only makes you look desperate and that’s definitely not what you want.
  3. Don’t guilt them.
  4. Don’t lie to them.  Don’t tell them it’s going to be super easy or that they aren’t going to have to put any work into it or exaggerate how much they’ll make.  Just be open, honest, and genuine.
  5. Don’t convince them.  If they join only because you’ve convinced them, chances are they won’t do anything with the business.  They must see the vision for themselves or you’re just wasting your time.

  1. I don’t know if I’d use the word “selfish” to describe people who don’t want to share with their warm market. I think it’s more insecurity and fear of rejection.

    1. I’ve heard many trainers talk about this topic and I’ve often heard Ray Higdon saying this. So if you look at not wanting to help someone because of being insecure, then to me, it’s a little selfish but we are all entitled to our own opinions. 🙂
