MLM Tips: What Every Entrepreneur Can Learn From J.K. Rowling

MLM Tips: What Every Entrepreneur Can Learn From J.K. Rowling

Every single entrepreneur (I don’t care what line of business you’re in!) can learn from J.K. Rowling. And today, that’s who we’re going to talk about!

In the off chance that you don’t know who J.K. Rowling is, she’s the creator of the phenomenal, successful Harry Potter series.  I’ve read the books and I’ve watched the movies, and I recently watched a documentary on her. Have I mentioned that I’m a huge fan? I am! What I can appreciate about Miss Rowling is her personal story. It’s inspirational, and something that any person can learn and benefit from.

MLM Tips: What Every Entrepreneur Can Learn From J.K. Rowling

Here’s something that most people probably don’t realize about the Harry Potter books: They almost never happened. What’s more—it took J.K. Rowling five years and nine rejection letters to complete the first Harry Potter novel. What stands out to me is that most people would have given up long before five years and nine rejections. The biggest takeaway is that you should never give up something easily, when it’s something you believe in. She had a vision that she wanted to make a reality, and she fought for it.

For the most part, people (especially entrepreneurs) who try to build business throw their hands in the air if they’re not making five figures the first month. They say: This industry doesn’t work! This industry sucks! This industry is broken!

Do you want to know something else that’s remarkable about her story? When J.K. Rowling originally wrote Harry Potter, she shopped it around to various publishing houses. The problem is that the industry wasn’t receptive of Harry Potter because it was different and had never been done before. On top of that, it was twice as long as what most publishers took on.

The concept of magic and imagination was totally new, and despite that, she didn’t stop. It’s inspiring when you think of the hardships that she experienced during this chapter of her life. It reminds me of something Ray Higdon wrote. “As an entrepreneur, you need to embrace two words: ‘despite’ and ‘until.’”

With J.K. Rowling, she kept going despite the fact that her magical novel was twice as long as normal, and despite the fact that her type of work had never been published. It was perseverance at its finest.

If you think about her now, you know that she is one of the most successful and popular women in the world. I can almost guarantee that her name is known across the globe, in every country.

What I want you to think about when it comes to your own entrepreneurial journey, is why. Why are you doing this? What are your expectations? For the most part, people are not going to create a thriving 6-figure business within the first five months of opening shop. It’s not going to happen (unless you’re just super well connected but I’m speaking about the majority here).

Having said that, don’t give up on your dreams when you’re experiencing a strong gravitational pull. Keep learning. Keep going. At some point, you will get there whether it takes you two years, five years, or ten years. You’ll be able to see your dreams come to fruition one day—because you have ambition, and it will become a reality. By then, you can live a life of incredible abundance.

When you think about people like Walt Disney, Oprah, and Steve Jobs, you will find people who were failures. What makes them different is their perseverance and their gumption. Despite rejection and poverty, they kept going. Believe in the possibility that your dreams will come true. You can create an amazing life if you’re willing to roll back your sleeves and get to work. Don’t let another person’s “no” stop you.

JK Rowling is so inspirational and a role model to follow when it comes to persistence.

I believe she reignited the passion for reading among kids. And the best way to grow leaders in the next generation is to get them to become avid readers.

My nephew at age 8 read the entire Harry Potter series.

What I learned from Rowling is to never give up, don’t quit, because in the end we’ll get what we want. She’s really a great inspiration!
