MLM Tips: The Shocking Truth About Your Marketing

I am hoping today’s blog will be a big eye opener for some folks as I get into some social media marketing strategies that seem to be taking over everyone’s newsfeed.

Have you ever gotten on Facebook or other Social Media Sites and got annoyed at the massive amount of people who seem to be doing nothing but taking up your newsfeed with their “marketing” or shall I say spam??  I get it and if I’m being honest, I actually used to be one those people who didn’t know a thing about actual marketing.  I just did what others were doing and I realized that I was not marketing at all, in fact I was just being another spammer, even though it was never my intent!  

Marketing Tips:

 My first suggestion is to not blast your company name and website links everywhere.  Here’s why: It makes you look like a spammer and it eliminates all curiosity. Turst me, you want to raise more curiosity than resistance.  When you post your company link, if someone has any interest, many times instead of contacting you, they will simply go to google and do their own research.  The problem with this is they will likely find the one person who has something negative to say and chances are, you won’t ever know.  However, if you aren’t posting your link, it will force those who might be interested to reach out to YOU for more information instead of google.  The same holds true if you’re prospecting on social media.  When you are contacting someone to see if they are open to your opportunity or product, don’t ever send an unsolicited link in that message just hoping that someone will bite.    

Next, when you are posting, don’t spam!  Don’t just slap up some before and after and start going to town saying, “My company is awesome, you can get rich quick, our products are amazing, I’m looking for 3 more customers to meet my goal, blah blah blah blah.”  When you are doing posts like these, it screams that you only care about what someone can do for you and not what you can do for someone else.  

I’m going to put myself on the chopping block here.  Over a year ago I was posting the same types of things on Facebook. My sister and I were talking and she told me that when she would see my posts (back when I was doing it the wrong way) that she would NEVER read them, she would just scroll past them.  MY OWN BLOOD wouldn’t read my posts people!  She told me that I didn’t seem passionate about what I was doing, that it appeared all I wanted was to make a sale.  WOW!!  That made me feel awful because it was never my intent and it hit me hard.  I AM super passionate about what I do and I LOVE helping others.  The problem is that others didn’t see it that way.  Now that I’ve changed up the way I present and instead lead with value, my sister doesn’t just scroll past my posts like she used to and I’m sure others don’t either.  When you are giving your audience valuable information, it will make a world of difference.    

I have a friend who is with a network marketing company that sells food.  She came over one night and I gave her a short little marketing lesson and even showed her how to do it.  Instead of her just posting on Facebook saying, “Hey guys, I’m placing an order on Friday, let me know if you want something,” I told her to post a picture with a recipe that uses a popular product.  The next day, she did the same thing and guess what???  She called me and said, “Oh my gosh, it actually does work.  I got two sales today!”  I told her, “I knew you would.”  

See, it’s all about how you can solve the problems of your target market!!  How can you help them?  How can you make their lives easier?  How can your products or opportunity solve a problem or benefit them?  Stop making it about you and instead make it about what you can do for them and you will notice more engagement, more sign-ups, more sales.  This is called Attraction Marketing!!
