Today, I am going to be teaching and sharing how to create a thriving online business using attraction marketing.
More specifically, how to market in a way to create massive engagement, establish yourself as an authority, and generate more leads (people actually raising their hand) with a lot less effort.
This is definitely going to be one that you’ll want to bookmark and share with your team as I’m laying out the foundation you’ll need step by step.
How to Create Massive Engagement on Social Media Using Attraction Marketing
This mini-training is going to be great for either the newbie network marketers, online marketers, internet marketers, or for those who have been in the industry for a while but have been struggling with generating leads on Facebook.
If you’re not really seeing a lot of engagement, that’s going to change (if you implement)! So you’ll definitely want to take notes and be sure to not only consume this but actually implement what I teach.
Everything I’m going to be sharing with you today is a result of me going through a lot of training, coaching, courses, events, etc from some of the top industry leaders.
Trust me when I say I struggled for four long years and was a total spammer (my own sister even told me that) and it wasn’t until I actually started doing what you’ll learn here that things began to turn around, people stopped running from me and in fact…
I now have so many in bound friend requests and leads that I honestly can’t remember the last time that I actually had to prospect a total stranger. (The pic below shows how many FB Friend Requests I currently have so you can see for yourself that it works hehe)
Now, before we dive in, my twinkie and I (or at least everyone thinks we’re related, lol) Jen Johnson actually created a 90 Day Social Media Game Plan for you to start following.
If you often feel lost and not sure what activities to do on Facebook everyday, then this pdf download is definitely for you as we lay out and give you specific activities where you can easily check them off as you go along.
This same plan is what we’re currently teaching our own network marketing team to do as well, so take advantage and grab the free download here! (or simply click on our cool little book graphic below)
Now…. Let’s Dive In 🙂
Understand that there are two ways to build your business when it comes to Facebook (or really any social media channel):
- Prospecting – where you are actually reaching out to people, and you’re striking up conversations. This is active!
- Marketing – this is basically where you’re putting out content and posts to get people to raise their hand and reach out to you. This is passive!
Now, I don’t know about you, but I started learning marketing (the long game) because reaching out and prospecting people that didn’t know me wasn’t very appealing. I mean, if I’m being honest, I would rather have taken a punch to the face (ok, maybe I’m being a little dramatic but you get my point).
However, it is a lot more fun to sit here and talk to people who already know you, or to put up content and have people raise their hand and ask,
“Hey, what are you doing?”
They are coming to you because they want to learn more and you aren’t begging or convincing, you’re attracting! (Hence why they call it “Attraction Marketing”)
When it comes to Facebook, there’s absolutely a right way and a wrong way. Through all of my struggles, I had to learn….
- what successful people did differently
- what could I do to actually start attracting people
- how to get people reaching out to me
One of my favorite books on attraction marketing is called “Magnetic Sponsoring” by Mike Dillard. In this book he says..
“Generating attraction is about one thing; Increasing your value to others and the world. The more valuable you become to others, the more they will seek you out.”
So in essence, attraction marketing is all about putting out content (whether that be just a status update, blog post, pre-recorded video or live video, podcast, etc) that solves a pain, problem, or struggle that your target market has (thus attracting people to you). Make sense?
I also want you to switch your mindset and remember that if you are focused on yourself and how many sales you can make, the longer you’ll struggle with making profits. Seek to Serve!
The more you place an emphasis on providing a solution and helping someone else get what they want, the more you’ll get what you want in the process.
There is no way you will ever win (in the business world) without helping others win first! That’s what it’s truly about.
Also, if you’re struggling and totally clueless on what to post and have trouble staying consistent, you might want to check out the 14 day challenge here that me and two of my buddies created for our group coaching clients. (In the mini course, we take out the guess work and literally tell you what to post each day with examples! You can go back to it time and time again and reuse a lot of the same concepts to help you create tons of posts.)
Now, let’s start building your foundation shall we….
The First Two Steps In Marketing (without it, you won’t go far)
#1. Start with your brand.
Understanding your brand is the very first step to marketing online. Many people think that their brand or their business is their network marketing company. No, No, No, No!!!!
Remember, your business and your brand is YOU.
It’s not the network marketing company you’re with. It’s not the products you promote.
Whether you know it or not, everyone has a brand.
What comes to your mind when you think about Oprah, Justin Timberlake, Ellen DeGeneres, Eric Worre? Chalene Johnson? They all have a brand. Again, people join people, not companies.
Now, when it comes to my personal brand, I’m very known for:
- social media marketing and branding
- videos, especially Facebook lives
- outsourcing & teaching people to work smarter and not harder
- teaching entrepreneurs more leveraged strategies so you can actually have some time freedom (can I get a heck yes here?)
So, when it comes to YOU, here are some questions that I want you to ask yourself to determine what you want your brand to be:
- What do you want to be known for?
- What space in the marketplace do you want to fill?
- If somebody says your name, what do you want them to think of?
Do you want to be known as a skincare guru or a trainer? Do you want to be known as a life coach or an SEO specialist or a video marketer?
Whatever it is, really think about it, and ask yourself those questions. No one can answer that question for you.
Also, understand that things might change. So you might start off a little bit more broad in the beginning and then as you are developing and as you’re going along, you’re going to understand what you really like and what you don’t like and your path may change and that’s OK if it does! Don’t beat yourself up.
In my case, when I first started teaching online marketing and branding, I was teaching very generic and was a little way more broad. I would teach on all kinds of things like SEO, Twitter, IG, etc but as I started studying and learning, I started honing in on what I liked/disliked, what got me fired up and what made me want to stick a fork in my eye.
I rolled with it, got more specific and niched down, I didn’t worry about how many others were out there teaching the same thing, I just went with what I was more passionate about and so should you.
One last thing I want to add here is to not try and be an expert at everything. So if you’re in a health & wellness MLM, don’t automatically try and be the business guru & all things health & wellness. Pick one and run!
This is also something I teach inside of my Back to the Basics Academy (my signature course for those who want to take a deeper dive into learning all about their brand, target audience, content creation, and marketing strategies surrounding Facebook)
Now, let’s move onto the second step.
#2. Understanding and Identifying Your Target Market.
Back when I was with a previous network marketing company, I sold skin care products, and I did it totally wrong. I just thought that since everybody has skin, everybody was in my target market. Wrong!
Why? Because not everybody who has skin cares about looking younger or cares about the wrinkles, or the dark spots or the sunspots on their face.
Understand that when it comes to target marketing, you really want to get specific. As I was listening to a podcast where Amy Porterfield was interviewing Jasmine Star, she threw out this quote and I was like “OMG, that’s golden” and this is it…
“The riches are in the niches.”
So, the more specific that you can be, the better off you are in the long run.
Now, when it comes to identifying your target market, I want you to sit down and ask yourself some questions about your ideal customer, client, or business partner (that’s really how I look at my target market as and holy cow, it made it sooo much easier to do this exercise).
- What do they look like?
- Are they male or female?
- What’s their age range?
- Where do they live?
- Are they married?
- Are they single?
- Do they have kids? If so, how many?
- Do they have a college degree?
- How much money do they make?
- What qualities do they have?
- What qualities do they not have?
When I really started thinking about who I want to attract, my target market was very similar to me. They know what they want, however they just don’t know how to get there. They have the drive, they have the motivation, but they just don’t have the know-how.
A few other things about my target audience is that she’s a woman, she’s not a negative person, she thinks in abundance, she is no non-sense lady, she doesn’t make excuses, and she’s not really techie (very much like me).
Understanding and writing that down is super important. Why? Because when you start creating content and putting up posts, you can start writing as if you are talking to that ideal person.
Some will feel as if you’re talking directly to them and it allows you to build a deeper connection which is very important. Your goal is to build rapport with the right people and if you don’t have that, then there’s no way that you’re going to be able to build any type of long-term, sustainable business online.
——————————————————————————
Now that you have a basic understanding of the above, I want to move into helping you actually attract people when they land on your Facebook profile and not repel them like I did for so many years.
First impressions are everything, especially if someone who doesn’t yet know you lands on your profile. You can either peak their interest and get them wanting to connect with you (allowing you to build rapport and trust) or you can turn them off (which I know isn’t your plan).
8 Step Process to Beef Up Your Facebook Profile
Now it’s time to set yourself up to start attracting people versus repelling them and with that being said, I’m going to give you eight tips on how to set up your Facebook profile.
Tip #1 – Profile picture
Make sure that you have a profile picture of you, preferably a close up picture where you’re smiling. Here’s why… When people who don’t know you go to check out your profile (and they will if you’re reaching out to them, sending them messages, friend requests, etc) they don’t want to see a picture of your pet, or a group of people, or a quote, etc. They want to see you and know who they are talking to and if they can’t, they are less likely to connect or respond to you.
Tip # 2 – Cover photo
You can definitely get fun and creative with this one by doing a collage of pictures that depict lifestyle, family, accolades, etc. or it can be something simple.
For my own cover photo, I have a picture of me with a pretty quote on it, with several people from our network marketing team (but I like to change it every now and then which can also stir up some new engagement). You can see my cover below 👇🏼👇🏼.
(Bonus Tips) – Steer clear of any type of company branding. You want to create curiosity and if someone comes to your profile, and they see a billboard of the network marketing company that you’re with, they’re going to be less likely to want to have a conversation with you because in their mind, they’ll just wonder what you are going to pitch them.
Tip # 3 – Introduction
This is directly below your profile picture on your personal profile and gives people a little insight into who you are and who you serve. So when people go to your profile, what do they need to know about you?
Although this might change at any time, Facebook currently has this limited to a certain number of characters so you can’t go crazy by writing a paragraph. You can again, see my example below.
Tip # 4 – “About” section
Again, remove any reference to your network marketing company and give people an insight into who you are. Fill out as much information as possible.
If you have a Facebook Business Page/Fan Page, you can link it as well. It’s up to you whether you want to add your phone number but I heard someone say that you putting your phone number is no different from other stores listing their phone number on their websites.
Tip # 5 – Use “Featured Photos”
Right now, Facebook allows you to have five featured photos, and you can change them at any time. What I would recommend is to use them to tell a story. Get creative. Don’t just slap up any five pictures but instead put some thought into it.
What do you want people to know about you? For me, I want them to see that I’m a wife, mother, I like to travel and do fun things with my family (hence my daughter petting a kangaroo), I have a weight loss story and love to help others who might struggle with what I went through, and I’m also receiving an award on stage so I want people to see that I’m an action taker and I’m actually getting results (because you can’t walk any stage without results).
Tip # 6 – Go public
Whenever you are putting up a post on your profile, you have the ability to set that post to public so anybody can see it, only friends, or even to only certain people. I recommend to set them to public so that when people you aren’t connected to come to check you out, they can actually see what you’re about.
Remember, if people can’t see anything on your wall because you’ve got everything set to private, they are less likely to want to connect.
You can change this setting anytime you actually go to create a post on Facebook. Look at the picture below to see where to change this if you don’t currently know how.
Tip # 7 – Enable “Follow” button
Go to your settings, and allow people to follow you.
Facebook limits you to 5,000 friends and therefore allowing others to “follow” your posts is a smart idea because you can have as many followers as you want.
On another note, I don’t know how many times I’ve been to someone’s profile and wanted to connect but couldn’t because they didn’t have this feature turned on. I’ve also seen people who don’t even have their settings to where anyone can send them a friend request so check out the video below where I walk you through how to edit these privacy settings on Facebook.
Tip # 8 – Approve timeline and tagging
Make sure that you have your settings set to where you have to approve any posts that you’re tagged in. This is to give you control of your page, your profile, and your newsfeed and you don’t have people randomly tagging you in stuff.
Just go to your settings and then check out the picture below to ensure it’s turned on.
So, those are my eight tips to spruce up your profile and set yourself up to really be that authority figure and someone who is attracting and not repelling. For more information about attraction marketing, definitely check out the marketing system I use that helped me go from completely unknown to talking on stage! <– Here you’ll not only get me mentoring you, but you’ll also get to tap into the brains of two of my best buddies who are rocking it too!
Final Tips To Keep You Moving Forward
Focus on quality versus quantity.
Facebook has over 2Billion active daily users and competition to get in the newsfeed is fierce!
With that being said, you definitely want to focus on quality versus quantity. So instead of posting a bunch throughout the day, post 1-2 times and really put some thought into it.
We completed a challenge with those me and a couple of buddies coach/mentor and for 14 days straight, we told them exactly what to post and we made them put some thought into it and it was awesome to see the engagement they got and the action they were taking on a consistent basis. For more info on the challenge, you can check it out here.
No Negativity
I’ll make this simple and to the point… Stop airing your dirty laundry on social media, stop complaining, stop whining, and for all things holy, don’t be negative.
It turns people off because people don’t like drama and the ones who do aren’t the ones who you want building a business with you because they’ll likely end up sucking the life right out of you much like the dementors in Harry Potter, ya feel me?
Always Lead with Value
People come to social media to do what? To socialize! They don’t come with credit card in hand. Therefore, you want to focus on entertaining, educating, and inspiring.
When you’re writing a post, stop and think if your post is going to entertain your audience. Is it going to educate them or inspire them? If not, I wouldn’t recommend you putting it up.
Think about your target market. What are they struggling with? What questions do they have? Instead of putting up pitchy posts that just turn people off, focus on serving and solving more problems.
If you’re building a network marketing company, I would also recommend doing a Launch Video. You can take a look at the launch video I did here, take some notes, and then make your own.
If you are wanting to share your products but aren’t sure how to do it, check out the video where I simply shared my own journey here!
Notice again that I never mentioned the company name. I actually don’t even mention the name of the product. Why?
Because people will go to Google to search the company or the products and I don’t want that. I want to force people to reach out to me who are interested because I want to get to know their pains, problems, and what they are looking for. I also don’t want them to know what I’m using and then find someone else who is doing it and get it from them.
Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable, take people on your journey, and be a real person because at the end of the day, relatability is important!
Final tip… GO LIVE MORE OFTEN! I know it can be scary but I’ve got ya covered here…
Check out this audio I did sharing some things you can do to ease your way into going live. From there you can check out some other articles and videos I’ve done here to give you the edge when it comes to all things video.
I hope you got lots of value from this. If so, feel free to share it out because sharing is caring and stingy people aren’t fun. lol
😂BLOOPERS😂
Ya think it’s easy being a mompreneur? I’ve always prided myself at being pretty good during Live videos but boy combine my toddler with a pre-recorded video = lots of bloopers! Enjoy!
Was this helpful? Is there anyone else you know that is struggling in this area and could use some pointers too, share this with them so they too can start generating more leads, sales, and signups. I promise, they’ll thank you for it.
