🔥5 Tips When Using FB Live🔥

Tip #1. Get right into the content.
Do not announce that you’re gonna sit here and wait for people to hop on before you get into the content.  Also realize that when it comes to live video, the majority of your views are going to be replays.  Keep in mind too, that you have about 8 seconds to capture somebody’s attention before they decide whether they’re going to watch you or move on.

The real deal is, people literally have the natural attention span of a fish (I totally read that somewhere but can’t remember where) so get straight into the content, otherwise, you will lose people.

Tip #2. Keep your FB Lives to 10 minutes or less.
Keep your Facebook Lives around 10 minutes or under. Why? Because nobody wants to sit here and watch a movie on Facebook. Get your content, get it out there, keep it concise, to the point and then end it.  The exception to this is if you’re doing some type of training on a particular topic, in that case, it can be longer but ultimately, try to keep them shorter.

Tip #3. Ask questions.
I love asking questions and the reason I do this is to increase engagement with my viewers.  Another perk to asking questions is that when people are commenting, it also increases the weight of my video and Facebook says, “Hey, people are liking this,” (so it’s a double hack) and they’ll push it out into more people’s newsfeed. So there is a reason to engage, ask questions and interact with people.

Tip #4. Look at the camera dot on your phone and not yourself.
If you have a phone, you have a little camera dot, and that’s what you need to be looking at.  When you’re looking and talking to the camera dot on your phone then to your viewers, it looks as if you’re looking straight at them.  However, if you’re looking at yourself during the video, it looks like you’re staring off into space and you’re not able to get that connection with your viewers. Soo…. stop looking at yourself and look at the dot! 🙂

Tip #5. Have a call-to-action at the end of your video.
You always want to give people that next step they can take in the process, right? And it needs to be congruent with whatever you’re talking about.  So for instance, I’m sitting here giving you more marketing tips. If you want to learn how you can stand out on social media and become a better marketer, and attract people to you, hop on over to SherriBrownCoaching.com and there, you get more information about the free trainings and services I offer.  See how I did that?  So just think about whatever topic you’re talking about and have a call to action that aligns with your message.  If I’m talking about marketing tips, I wouldn’t send someone to a prospecting training because it’s not congruent with my topic.  Make sense?

  1. I love these tips, Sherri! I often wonder why people have such long Lives…they really don’t hold your attention after a few minutes. By the way, it was Mark Harbert who said get right into the content. That was when he spoke at LTD. 🙂

  2. LIVE LIVE LIVE!! This is the biggest hit of this year and probably years to come. Great tips on using Facebook live Sherri! You’re a rockstar! I have a problem with #1 lol But I really like tips #3 and #4. I see people doing lives that are not looking at the camera so it looks like they’re looking somewhere else. ANNNNND I love tips #5. ALWAYS have a call to action!
Thanks so much for sharing! 🙂

  3. Great tips Sherri, still trying to figure out how to get better at #1… I think I need a VA to share my Facebook live for me 🙂

I was listening to Chalene Johnson as well and one her tips was to have a little bonus tip at the beginning of your Live and encourage people who hop on later to watch the beginning of the Live to found out where to find the bonus tip. I thought it was a good idea too.
