3 Reasons Why Learning Marketing Is Just Plain Smart

Do you ever wonder how some people just seem to make money in their sleep?  Well, that’s because they are actually learning and implementing marketing into their business plan and today, I’ll be sharing 3 reasons why learning marketing is just plain smart.

I know there are a lot of “old school” people out there who think marketing is a waste of time but from personal experience, if it weren’t for me actually becoming a real student of this, I would still be struggling as a home business owner today.

The world has changed drastically over the past several years and if you aren’t taking the time to really dive into this, you are leaving TONS of money on the table and missing out on the ability to impact a lot of people.

3 Reasons Why Learning Marketing Is Just Plain Smart

#1 Reason: It creates leverage in your business.

First and foremost, know that there are a lot of people out there who have been extremely successful in businesses solely offline. So, they’re just picking up the phone, they’re calling people, they’re hosting an event, they’re out the public, they’re building a brand and business belly-to-belly.

And although offline is great, it just wasn’t my cup of tea considering I’m a stay at home mom with a small child at home.  Also, if I’m being honest, it also didn’t allow me to scale or really generate leads if I wasn’t actually out doing the work.

Now, when I’m putting up a blog post or video, that stuff stays out there forever! So if I were around town hosting an event and out talking to people, no one can find that and watch it later. Nothing happens for my business and it doesn’t move forward unless I’m hosting those events, etc. But when it comes to marketing… well, that is leveraged. I have had people find my videos while I’m asleep and watch them and then the next day I’ve generated leads and sales which is pretty awesome!

#2 Reason: It allows you to generate leads.

The second thing is that learning marketing allows you to generate leads (as I mentioned above). Again, this goes back to you being able to put up content that can start attracting people. So in essence, by really diving in and learning effective marketing strategies, it can attract people to you and you can wake up with either messages in your inbox or more prospects added to your email list!

#3 Reason: It allows you to build an audience.

The third reason is that it allows you to build an audience. So, when you are going out there, creating content, thinking about the pains, problems and questions of those in your target market, you start growing an audience.

Let’s face it, the lifeline of your business is leads and the ability to get what you have to offer in front of more people. If you don’t have leads coming in, your business won’t survive.  So, by constantly learning marketing and putting up valuable content, your audience will continue to grow.

I don’t know about you but pounding the pavement trying to build the business just wasn’t that appealing to me, it didn’t create leverage, it wasn’t scalable, and it didn’t allow me to create time freedom which are all huge perks of actually learning and building an online presence.

  1. Yes Indeed, your job is to have people looking for you, instead of you looking for them. I believe that when people don’t learn how to market their home business properly, they are doomed to fail from the start.

  2. You’re right, Sherri. We have to be where the current marketing trend goes and not just to stick to offline marketing. There are absolutely tons of new tools out there to help leverage our business today.

You have said EXACTLY what I’ve been thinking. My late husband was an architect. I was younger when we married so we started & built his business together. His website launched a whole new clientele for his business! Never did hosting a booth at a home builders generate a income producing lead.
